Just weeks after being the target of a curt expletive from Mayor Richard M. Daley, Rolando Rodriguez, a Wal-Mart executive, has been transferred out of the state.
During a City Council meeting last month, Mr. Rodriguez asked the mayor if he was committed to Wal-Mart’s plans for more stores in Chicago, prompting Mr. Daley to swear at Mr. Rodriguez and storm off, according to a witness to the exchange.
Mr. Rodriguez had been Wal-Mart’s regional manager for Illinois and Indiana, and has now moved to a similar position in Colorado as part of a national reorganization, said John Bisio, a Wal-Mart spokesman.
There is only one Wal-Mart store in Chicago, despite Mr. Daley’s support for more locations in the city.
Since last month’s Council meeting, lobbyists have been banished from the room behind the council chambers where Mr. Rodriguez was introduced to the mayor.
