Bensenville, the suburban enclave near O’Hare International Airport, long opposed plans by Mayor Richard M. Daley of Chicago to expand O’Hare. No more, though.
Last April, the suburb elected a new leader, Frank Soto, and he has decided to make peace with the mayor and become more like Rosemont, a suburb where the airport spawned a cluster of hotels, restaurants and offices.
“I look forward to the day Gibson’s is there,” said Tom Manion, a local political operative, referring to the steakhouse that attracts a clout-heavy clientele to its Gold Coast and Rosemont locations.
And why is Mr. Manion interested? He is a former political aide to Mr. Daley and a City Hall lobbyist who helped Mr. Soto get elected.
Frank Coconate, a Daley critic and Bensenville village official who was fired after Mr. Soto won the election, said the peace effort gave Bensenville a new name: “Chicago City Hall West.”
