During a 15-minute break Monday, after jurors were dismissed, Judge James Zagel admonished Rod Blagojevich‘s attorney Aaron Goldstein for his repetitive questioning of former Deputy Gov. Bob Greenlee. Goldstein has kept at Greenlee about a deal Blagojevich was considering to appoint Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to the Senate in exchange for legislative assistance from Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.
“It just doesn’t seem like the right witness,” Zagel said. “It has become a waste of time.”
The judge continued: “You have a witness who doesn’t know much. And the only major source of information is your client and considering the fact I think this witness does not have untrammeled faith in the credibility of your client, you’re just going to get a lot of reluctant answers.”
