Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart today declined to immediately give a timeline for a decision on the mayoral run, saying he had work to do in his current position.
But Dart didn’t shy away from answering a question about the viability of one of his possible rivals for the job, White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel.
At a press conference announcing the results of two drug investigations, Dart said he has not discussed the race with any of the people considering running for mayor, and a potential announcement by Emanuel would not speed up his decision.
Addressing a question about Emanuel’s viability as a candidate, Dart said the Washington way of thinking is not the reality of the way the rest of the public and the world thinks, and that voters would not listen to what Washington tellls them.
“The public is so fed up with politicians,” he said.
