Burge Trial Postponed A Day

Closing arguments in the trial of former Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge have been put off for a day because of an undisclosed emergency among the lawyers.

Attorney’s for both sides rested their cases this afternoon and closing arguments had been scheduled to take place Wednesday. But late Tuesday Judge Joan Lefkow announced that they would be put off until Thursday because of an emergency she deemed “sufficiently important to postpone the trial.”
