Rod Blagojevich will testify, his lawyer said Tuesday.
“He’s going to testify,” Sam Adam Jr. told the jury in his opening remarks. “Not going to let some chubby-eyed lawyer talk for him.”
The bombastic, “chubby-eyed” Adam Jr. lived up to his moniker as “The Mouth.”
“By the end of this case,” Adam Jr. said, “I’m telling you, that man is as innocent as the day is long and you’re going to know it. Where? In your gut.”
Adam Jr. then made the rhetorical case that if Blagojevich is as corrupt as the government says, then he shouldn’t be broke.
“The biggest politician that is corrupt in America is broke?” Adam Jr. marveled. “That is what they are telling you have to convict him on. He didn’t take a dime.”
