Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich arrived at the Dirksen Federal Building moments ago with his wife Patti and their daughters, Amy and Annie. Closing arguments in his corruption trial start this morning.
On his way in, Blagojevich stopped to sign a fan’s T-shirt that read:
“USA vs. Rod Blagojevich
Count:
1. Congestion-Relief Program; Guilty
2. Illinois KidCare; Guilty
3. Free Bus Rides for Seniors; Guilty
4. Talks Too Much; Guilty
5. Senate Seat for Sale; Show Me the Money”
Chicagoan Othoniel Cantres, 34, told reporters he arrived at 6:30 a.m. to secure a spot outside so that he could offer the ousted governor some words of support before closing arguments commenced.
Cantres said the government has not done its job in proving Blagojevich guilty on any of the 24 counts he’s charged with, and repeated one of Blagojevich’s favorite lines: “Show me the money.”
