Blago Fundraiser Details Seven-Figure Goals

Before the lunch break Tuesday, Kelly Glynn, the finance director for Friends of Blagojevich from May 2002 to August 2004, began testifying about the ex-governor’s fundraising operation. Glynn told the jury about meetings held at Tony Rezko’s office between herself, Tony Rezko, and former top Blagojevich fundraiser and close friend Chris Kelly, in the lead up to the campaign’s major summer fundraising event.

In 2003, the big event was held at Navy Pier, with the goal to raise $4 million. In 2004, Glynn testified, the campaign decided it needed a bigger venue and held the annual event in the lobby of the Field Museum. The goal for that event was to raise $5 million. At the meetings at Rezmar, the group determined who would follow up with the key bundlers: Kelly, Rezko, John Wyma, Milan Petrovic and lobbyist Paul Rosenfeld.

Glynn said that the campaign was pushing hard at that time to raise funds before the quarterly filing period date of June 30.
