All apparently is forgiven for Jon Scheyer, the local basketball star. One of the most decorated prep players in Illinois history from 2003 to 2006, Scheyer was often booed during his senior year at Glenbrook North High School after announcing he would attend Duke University instead of the University of Illinois.
But on Wednesday night Scheyer heard nothing but cheers as he scored 31 points in leading fifth-ranked Duke to an 81 to 65 victory over Iowa State in his first game at the United Center.
The crowd of 10,067 included several hundred friends and family members. “It was a special night,†Scheyer said.
